Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders demand justice for George Floyd, Breyonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and all victims of state-sanctioned violence. This video aims to mobilize Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to condemn anti-Blackness and anti-Black racism in their own communities and beyond. We encourage a community commitment to cross racial-solidarity and acknowledgement of the system that pins marginalized groups against each other.

DJ Kuttin Kandi Testifies At Planning Commission Meeting at SD City Council

On December 7, 2017 the Planning Commission were scheduled to vote on the redevelopment proposal of PQ Village in Rancho Penasquitos submitted by Lennar which places over 900 residents at risk to lose their homes which are the remaining 332 affordable housing units. PQ Village has the only remaining affordable housing units in Rancho Penasquitos. San Diego residents came out in support of PQ Village residents, many whom are seniors and Filipino Americans. DJ Kuttin Kandi testified against Lennar's proposal and in support of PQ Village residents in the fight for their homes. Planning Commission ended up voting yes for the development. The final vote will be left with San Diego City Council in March, so make sure to follow this as the SAVE PQ Village campaign will continue - visit www.savepqvillage.com

Fall 2018 Performing Arts Residency - Kristina Wong Projects

The Performing Arts Residency Program provides a platform for the development and performance of new work that simultaneously enriches the airport environment and cultivates the regional performing arts community. This opportunity is a process-oriented residency program open to contemporary performing arts in all disciplines—dance, music, theater, as well as cross-disciplinary digital media. Kristina Wong Projects is a performance art collective consisting of internationally renowned performance artist Kristina Wong, playwright and actor Samuel Valdez, and poet and DJ Kuttin Kandi. During their six-month residency, they will be creating The Standby Room, exploring stories of waiting, anticipation, and redemption. This “pop-up” waiting room will be constructed out of sewn fabric and filled with hand-written stories collected from travelers. The group is exploring the airport as a transitional space that bridges past and future, where engagement is fleeting. The Standby Room offers a fun, visually captivating and immersive experience for passengers to tell stories of what is on the other end of their travels.
